music video
song rather be
180 degree rule
during music video all of the footage was kept in the 180 degree rules which is when you try to keep the camera on one side which is180 degrees. this rule is sometimes used in conversations to make it m ore interesting for the audience to watch. in the video this was used 1:44 in because the camera started to follow the singer round and stops before they reached 90 degrees and then on a different shot the camera followed the other girl round the circle but for less than 180 degrees round.
eye line match
22 seconds in to the music video the singer looks directly at here tape player and then 24 seconds in to the video there is an extreme close up of the singer pressing play on here tape player. also in the music video there is an eye line match of the singers face and here eyes looking at something 3:17 in the video. then there is a different shot of the person that the singer was looking at which was a man playing a piano on the street 3:18 in the video. in this video all of the eye contact matches so it doesn’t confuse the audience this also helps the next seen make sense and makes the video more understandable also this helps to make the video look more professional
transitions
in the video there was a fade transition from the song title name to the beginning of the music 9 seconds in. this helps the vidleeo have a natural flow and makes it feel less rushed at the beginning before the music has started. 3:57 in the music video the camera slides from the steer well into the apartment were the singer is lying in bed with some one watching over here. this is used to make the seen look more dramatic and ave more of a flow to it without using as many sudden cuts from one seen to the next.
alternative editing styles
22:27 into the video when there is a shot to the singer on here motor bike imagining that there are people behind hereand following here. 2:31 into the vidieo in a diffrent shot directly after the it shows that there was never any ont there to start with. if i eddied this vidieo i would slowly fade the people away out of the shot to represent that it was all in the singers hed to make it easyer for the adiance to understand. If i was edditing the vidieo i would make the vidieo more clear 2:35 in because it is not that clear that the singer is dreaming so it is easy to confuse the audience on what is happening in the video. To make it more clear I would use a fade transition to make it more clear on what is happening in the vide.

Abbington park Park Location Report For the storyline of the video some of the filming is going to be shot in Abington park, Northampton. Abington Park is located at postcode NN3 3HN. http://www.northampton.gov.uk/abingtonpark is approximately 250,000 square metres (500m x 500m). The outdoor filming will take place in an area approximately 10m x10m with plenty of room to put up equipment such as tripods, in a position with a pond in the background and near trees. Depending on the amount of equipment we have to carry and how heavy the equipment we might need to use a suitcase or trolley on wheels to carry the equipment to where we will be filming. We need to worry about people wanting to walk where we are filming. If we choose carefully locations that are far enough away from footpaths we should not inconvenience other users of the park. The lighting we hope to use natural daylight. The cameras used will automatically adjust to the light conditions available. We might take some sheets of white card to act as reflectors when filming the actors faces to reduce shadows and to naturally illuminate the face of the actors. We do not believe we need permission to film in Abington Park, especially as we only want to film our actors, not any other members of the public. The Park stays open from 9:00 to 5:00pm. The times we want to avoid filming is not earlier than 9:30 am because of the pedestrian and road traffic with people returning from dropping children off from school and the last of the morning rush hour. We want to finish filming no later than 3:00pm because the light will start to fade, the pedestrian and road traffic noise will be starting to build up.
Scotts bedroom
the location of the bedroom is in 49 Drywell court Standens Barn nn3 9tp the. the size of the area that we will be using to film will be difficult to film as the area is smaller than required. there will be other students in the area filming and acting for the video. the lighting for the video will be natural lighting because we will be filming round about mid day so the natural light will be at its brightest. the busiest time to film will not affect the video recording because you won’t have people coming in and out the room at variance times of the day. there no access issues because we will have keys to the house so we can get in easily with out causing any disruptions.

unit 3 topic B.1 Technical elements
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dfZ9BXaNyE There are various different shots through the video. At 3 seconds into the video there is a full body shot and a establishing shot of a grave yard. This is an establishing shot to show where the performers are and what they are doing, this is at 13 seconds into the video. There is also a close up of the performer 17 seconds in. This video uses a variety of different angles and shots, such as sideways on, close ups and extreme close up just showing the face. This is done to add more tension, emotion and atmosphere to the video. The music starts off slow and gets faster this helps to draw in the audiences attention and to make the audience feel like the video is moving faster to add more tension. This will make them more likely to watch and listen to the rest of the video.
meson seen
In the video the lighting that has been used is dark and mysterious because the video has been shot in a grave yard with zombies that have just come out of their graves. this also helps to set the mood of the video because the lighting is a key feature on what we see and take in. There Is an establishing shot of a grave yard 30 seconds in to the video so you know what the performers are looking at. This suggests to the audience that it could be scary and that there is something to be scared of.
In this shot compared to the shot 1 second in the at the beginning of the video the lighting changes from bright street lights to a dark foggy grave yard. This is to show that you should be scared and there might me danger around the corner. this affect is created by adding lots of smoke in and dark shadows with the plain night sky and no artificial lighting. 00:2 into the video there is street lights and people which makes you feel live the environment around them is safe and nothing bad could happen to them. 00:25 into the video there is a close-up shot of the moon which makes the video more spooky for the audience to watch. This also makes it more interesting for the audience to watch because they don’t no what could happen next.
At the start of the video the actors and the musicians were wearing casual denim clothes which suggests that they were out for a casual film evening. 0.55 seconds into the video we see zombies who are wearing black costumes which suggests the colour of death and contrasts with the causal clothes worn by the first actors. The clothes were also covered in mud and dirt which helps you see that they have come out of their grave that night and they are still dirty from the soil.
One of the type of shots used is a ‘bird’s eye’ view of the zombies dancing. This gives the audience a different perspective and enables them to see the scale of the zombies. This is effective because it a new and fresh view of the video and encourages viewers to keep watching.
There are a variety of different props used in the video. For example, the violin. This is an essential prop b because the main character uses the violin throughout the video to try and calm down the zombies. Another prop used is the headstones. These are used to show where you could find an instrument so that you can understand where the musician has got her instruments from. 51 seconds in there are two people using spades to dig up some of the graves to release some more zombies. This tells the audience that some of the zombies are unable to escape from their graves.
Some of the other shots used were pans. This is where the camera starts at one place and slowly moves across so that the audience gets the full picture. There was a vertical pan from the actors feet to their faces, showing an extreme close up. At the start of the video there was a full body shot of all of the actors but further into the video they used other shots, such as side angles because this would add more spooky lighting to the face, as half would be in darkness.
The video was slow to start, Lindsey and her two friends come out of the show and start talking about the show and how to get home quickly, they decide to take a short cut through the grave yard. The friends disappeared from shot and mystical music is heard, Lindsey sees some grave diggers the sound track at this time is spooky and building suspense. The grave diggers turn out to be zombies and the zombies start to break through from under the earth. The pace of the music starts to increase at around 40seconds and the zombies surface at 43 seconds and once the zombies started dancing 1.14 around Lindsey and the music matched the fast frantic dance moves.
Atmospheric sound effects such as cars travelling in the distance on roads (2 seconds in) this is to help create a ‘normal’ soundscape of a town. There is a faint sound of an owl 12 seconds in when they look across to the grave yard, the hoot of the owl to hint that the ground might be haunted and a place to avoid. They also introduce the sound of bugs, cicadas or crickets chirping loudly to make more of an atmosphere, the car and town noise disappears. This change in sounds are to show where her main focus is. Heavy breathing can be heard after 23 seconds, the sounds of the owl is more clear, you can hear Lindsey walking through the scrub and the music starts, all these elements are to build the tension that something bad is about to happen to Lindsey.
unit 3 topic A digital moving production
music video
The narrative of this video is stop motion animation. The background is very dynamic and changes to create the story. In the foreground there is a girl, the main character that interacts with the background as the film progresses
The background animation is created by using various coloured jelly beans. The jelly beans create images and morph through a series of events to show the four seasons and significant dates within the seasons such as Halloween and bonfire night in autumn.
I think the video is aimed at young girls, with a target audience from 7 years to young teenagers. The fast pace, chopping and changing images can make it very annoying to watch by an older audience. The pace of the video is very fast moving and has amusing popular culture references to children’s films such as two birds fluttering around, landing on the girls hand, the birds carrying the singing girl by her shoulders, similar to a scenes in Disney fairy tale films like Cinderella or with a ‘princess’.
For example at the opening of the video the audience see a woodland area which makes it feel like it is a fairy tale story and also when the singer bites an apple and eats a Caterpillar and burps up a butter fly. This is like a scene from snow white.
The genre of this video is happy because they use bright and colourful images that fit with the uplifting song and lyrics. The agenda of the video is aimed at girls because of the colours and the fairy tale theme that has been used. The ethnicity is aimed at people who can speak English.
Adverts
The appeal of this advert is beauty because L’Oreal wants to show their new product which will emphasize the eyes on the face, and therefore anyone using the product will also have gorgeous eyes, making them bolder and more attractive.
The target audience is aimed at young twenties to teenage girls and their insecurity about their looks and appeal to others. The giant pink cat and a panda head has been added to the advert to make it attractive and eye catching to a teenager and youthful audience. This would also attract independent teenagers that want to look different to other people, be different and standout from the crowd.
In the advert the model had spoken in a formal language so it can help attract your attention ad make the message easier to understand, for example the model says “My eyes feel manga all ready”. The advert has also used celebrity endorsement, this encourages girls to buy the product so they to can look like the “celeb”.
The narrative in the advert is thicker eye lashes which gives you “manga eyes”, the attraction of Manga eyes is large wide eyed, slightly vulnerable and attractive. In the advert the model directly addresses the audience which attracts your attention so you want to buy the product.
